Rural King - Unimpressed

I joined Rual King not too long ago and bust my *** every day only to find myself getting more disgruntled every day. The level of unprofessionalism is astounding. There is almost zero training. It's pretty much sink or swim. You are hired for one department but run freight for all departments. Constant short handedness and yet they still wanna cut hours! There is constant chatter over the walkie talkies and the level of negativity in the store is ridiculous. You work like a dog and don't get paid squat! I have ALOT of experience in retail and run circles around some of these employees here. There a maybe 2-3 managers that bust their *** at work while the rest waste time talking or standing around. The store is always miserably hot and uncomfortable. Unless you are desperate for employment, keep looking. I am too over qualified for this type of childishness and obvious fiasco!

I had to order tires when there were delivered to store I went to have them put on to my surprise they had one new guy put on tires it took an hour and a half just for one tire rural king needs more people that knows what they are doing I will not have rural king mount any tires I buy there again in effingham Illinois store

I too have found that RK is one of the worst places I have ever worked. I have been a part of the work force for over 30 years and this economy has led me to accept a job in ***.

These people make you feel like a little kid working in a Chinese sweat shop. Customers complain because the heat doesn't work in winter and the air conditioner doesn't work in summer. I haven't had to work for minimum wage since I was in high school. I have a degree in business and was laid off, ended up taking a job as a cashier at Rural King, with the hopes of finding something better in a couple of months.

Well that was 15 months ago.

Living the dream! I take home a little over $600 a month and they think we should buy shares in the company!!!

Rural King Shelbyville Ky Run Terribly

I am an employee at the Shelbyville, KY rural King. I recently got promoted to Department Manager. I was trained on the basics but i felt like i wasn't trained to the full amount i need to be. Our managers sit around on their *** all day and laugh/giggle and always bark orders. We don't have enough loaders during the day so the department managers have to take time away from their jobs to become loaders. All the managers are worried about is freight freight freight and when its time for the district managers to come in, we get bitched at because we are never able to be in our departments. The DM is a *** bag to everybody and even make one employee cry. They always call the Department managers for load outs and the cashiers up front don't know a *** thing about the store and dont know how to answer the questions on the phones. they can't use their 2 legs to walk around and look for something or to go and get carts. The place is run like *** and all the managers kiss *** to the head honchos when they fly in. its ***.

I have worked for rural King for 7 years it doesn't matter where you go management is bad they never have your back no matter how hard you work for them on the clock off the clock they don't care if everything on the list isn't done you aren't doing it right or good enough don't forget the customers need to be taken care of too not enough hours in the day ... but they'll take there hr lunch and seat around all day and not lift a finger to help customers or employees

I hate the Shelbyville Rural King. After having one problem with the assistant manager, I managed to get a hold of the Regional Manager.

Mike the Regional manager was just an *** and should never work in a management position. He has horrible customer service skills and treats the customer like he or she is an ***. So I finally contacted the VP of operations, John, he was a wonderful person on the phone. He managed to listen to my complaint but nothing ever got settled.

So that was the first problem.

The second came just weeks after the first incident. This time the manager Tracy? Promised to get back with me about a price on a big order of stuff for the farm. So that never happened, and so I tried to call the VP of operations again.

I think he just didn't want to hear about anymore complaints so he deferred me to Mike the *** Regional Manager. Upon speaking to Mike, I felt like I was an *** *** bag that wasted his time and I was just *** under his feet.

Seriously I hate Mike and all of Rural King and seriously will only do business with TSC. I hope Rural King goes out business quickly.

Rural King - OVERCHARGE CONSISTANTLY

BEWARE!!! The Rural King in Harrisburg, IL consistantly over-charges. They will ring up a higher price than advertised. Also will charge for more items than purchased. Example just today 3-8-2014. Purchased six bags of horse feed. Checked receipt (something you must do each time you shop here) and a extra bag was charged. Sale price items consistantly ring up normal price. Please, please , please check your receipt. Know the price of the items you are going to purchase. They will get you if you are not on your toes. This has been an on going problem since this store first opened its doors. *** poor management for sure.

This pricing is a corporate problem. They are in charge of price changes.

As a cashier I have this problem quite often! The customer comes down on the cashier for overcharging, but it's not their fault that no one has changed the price in the system from corporate. And you can't expect too much out of the employees of Rural King. They are treated like *** and paid minimum wage.

The company is making money off of the fact that their employees aren't paid much of a wage and most of them are part time because full time isn't available unless they are managers or department managers. Have you ever noticed that your store has a pretty good turn over in employees?

I only stay because I am in school, but when I graduate in September you can bet I will be raising some *** on this company and how they treat their employees. Heck, assistant managers make 24k a year and work mandatory 50 hour weeks.

No one is trying to "get you". You should always check your receipts at any store.

There is a 100% chance if you bring this up to a manager it will be corrected immediately. If you have any issues at all contact their corporate office.

Rural King - What a nightmare!

Ordered a tool box in November. Sales person told me my CC wouldn't be charged until shipped. Bill CC that day and item did not ship for 1 month. Item arrived damage. Been trying to work with them to get a partial refund instead of waiting another month for a new one. No one will acknowledge my e mails. Said UPS would come out to inspect damage finally after submitting pictures but UPS came to pick up the item instead. Refused to give it to them and contacted Rural King again to no avail. This company and their customer service are a total joke. Still have a damaged tool box and no partial refund, or offer to replace damaged one almost 2 months later. Buyer beware

Rural King - Did Not receive shipping that i paid for!!

I ordered a item for my daughter for Christmas, and I paid EXTRA for the faster shipping, 2 day shipping, and it took 12 days to arrive as they mailed it by UPS ground shipping. They won't respond to my emails, and getting anywhere on the phone with them has become a bigger nightmare. This ruined my daughter's Christmas,as this item was her one big gift she asked Santa for. How to explain to a 8 year old why her gift came in the mail late when Santa was to bring it? Not easy! I will never again shop online at Rural King, nor will I shop in their stores. I am a very pissed consumer!!!

Rural King - PRICES DOUBLED AFTER ORDER. REFUSED TO STAND BY ADVERTISED PRICE? VERY DISHONEST AND RUDE

PLEASE NEVER EVER SHOP HERE! They told me that because of a glitch in their system, prices were marked as sale that were not intended to be. So two days before Christmas they cancelled my order. I called and they refused to stand by their advertised prices, which I thought that you had to legally. They are the GRINCH WHO STOLE this Christmas for my family. My mother is dying, so I did all of my shopping online and rural king for all of the toys because I believed their prices to be best at the time. A woman named ASHLEY was very rude and basically didn't care. She didn't even apologize. I don't know what I am going to do. It is Dec.13, my mom has stage 4 liver cancer and I will have to pay 400 instead of the 200 I was counting on and even then the toys will not arrive till January now. I want to have Christmas spirit but I only have hatred in my heart right now for Ashley the Grinch and Rural King.

Rural King - Shipped wrong place, and wont answer my calls to return broken item

HORRIBLE PLACE TO PURCHASE FROM NEVER AGAIN!! They shipped my kids recliner to the wrong address then said well after we drop it off we will pick it back up and then ship it, I eventually drove the hour and picked it up myself. Then after I picked it up its broken, its going on a month of me calling and emailing them and they either answer and say ok we will send an email to this person or they don't answer at all. I've sent pictures to prove that its broke but I can't send a picture of wobbly arms on a chair. Its been going on to long for about a month that I called the better business bureau. I'm not finished either!!!

Shipped the wrong item, Rural King insists I pay shipping both ways

I ordered two EZ-Pour HI-FLO Replacement Spout Kits 30051 @ $9.99 each plus $9.25 Shipping and Handling. The Spouts shown on your web page http://www.ruralking.com/ez-pour-hi-flo-replacement-spout-kit-30051.html show spouts with small outlets (click on the photo that says "Large 7/8" Opening, etc.) The spouts I was shipped have only large outlets that will not fit in a automobile fuel filler. A small outlet is shown on the web page. I spent over 30 minutes with 3 different Rural King employees (Lisa, D.J. and Jeremy Miller) explaining that I was not shipped what was shown on the web page. They stated "Their Policy" (the customer is always wrong) is to refund the $9.99 each but insisted on my paying the $9.25 Shipping and Handling Charge plus my cost to return the items. This is not a reasonable solution to my being shipped items that are not as described, nor is it a fair business practice.

Are you sure you ordered the right ones? I've ordered both sets and the one that you are describing above (HI-FLO) is for use in offroad vehicles.

Sounds like almost every other Store there partner. Don't expect them to come back and help fix your store.

Their NEW DIRECTION is on the future not the past. All they care about is 15 new stores a year and reaching a billion in sales by the end of 2015. Will be interesting to see how they get there since all their store planning people have now quit that knew anything. Those select people were probably the only ones that ever really knew how to fix a problem when we had an issue.

Your best bet is to deal with it and keep quiet, try & make a difference and take the heat or just walk out.
