I know this is for complaints but I wanted to give some positive feedback. I have been going to the new store in cross lanes wv ,it has always been clean even the restrooms...I have used the layaway at Christmas and was not a mess like Walmart/kmart

Customer service not good!

I had my rebate slip with me and the associate forgot to scan it. I asked if she could void the transaction. No she couldn't but I could take it to the service desk and they would take care of it. She couldn't do it either. she did try but could not get the register to do it. She said it was a computer problem. Why didn't she call a manager to override the transaction? So I still have my rebate and no I didn't buy everything I wanted because at noon they were sold out already! The customer service at this store has gotten worse and I am beginning to wonder if it's worth my while to shop here.

Rural King - Stop mistreating live animals!

I just got back from the St. Clairsville Ohio Rural King.

They had about 15 LARGE rabbits. Obviously they are not selling. Why do they even have them this time of year? Most food bins were empty!

Nothing but dust. No hay anywhere to be seen. One almost empty water bottle per three rabbits. Some of the rabbits were eating a plastic sign that had fallen into the cage, as there was nothing else but pellet dust.

Pissed me off!

I see similar conditions every time I am at this store. I would have opened a bag of feed & took care of them, but would probably be arrested for shoplifting.

Don't have a key made

I came into Rural King today to get some stuff for my store and keys made. Spent a long time trying to find everything I needed.

Didn't seem very organized inside the store. When I did checkout I had two keys made. We'll at least I tried. The cashier told me he would do it as soon as he got the line caught up.

Every time he got the line cleared up he called people over from another line. The third time he did this, no one came and he petted a dog in the line beside him and helped another guest that walked up. After my 20 minute wait with no one even trying to help me I returned all my items and left a very disappointed customer. Horrible service, dirty looking store that is not organized very well.

I expected more from them. I did go home and later called the manager and told him what happened. He told me that customers in line come first and very few people know how to cut keys and that is always the last person they would help. I guess if you just want a key made you need to go somewhere else, because your not important enough to be waited on.

Ace Hardware was more than helpful, prices were the same and I didn't have to wait. Guess where I'm going next time!

Bad work ethnic's.

I put in an application for part time in the Gun department, there are ads everywhere in the store. I had my back ground check run, I was told to call on Friday October the 21 to see if it had came in.

I called three times was put on hold and no one picked up. I called Monday the 23 was told by an employee who identified himself as Chris(Assistant Manager) would check in and see if it had been returned and he would return my call. Today Tuesday I went in and told the Manager what was happening she denied having a assistant manager by the name Chris and she took my name and number to set up a time for drug screen well I am still waiting. I am qualified for gun sales and running a register.

You need to get a manager who cares about the New Castle Indiana store, it's always a mess when you go in and no one knows where anything is.

I told the manager it was bad work ethnics. I am very disappointed with these people.

I walked to the store and its near a mile from my home. I was actually just going in for a job application, but instead I ordered a Throttle Cable for a YardMan *** whacker. So once I got to the store I started browsing around with my backpack, because I walk everywhere, and I noticed a majority of the workers immediately stopped working and started peeking around corners and staring at me. All the workers were probably older than 45 so they're not sneaky, you know? So I kind of just stood around to see how many workers I could catch in tbe corner of my eye and it was 7. C'mon workers, not everybody with tattoos, long hair and a backpack is a thief, stop being so judgemental. I guess it's the normal thing in Southern Illinois, because every store I walk in I get followed around. So anyways, I had bumped into my step father, he's a African American and i'm Caucasion, and we started bursting in laughter at how outrageous the prices are for lawn equipment. After we parted ways, I had went to a polite, respectable, younger gentleman at the customer service desk, and noticed after I started talking with this gentleman, the workers stopped staring at me, like a herd of lions in the plains, and resumed working again. Geez about time right? Anyways, The gentleman gave me alot of advice and information, answered all my questions immediately, and then offered to order me a throttle cable for $10.49 and it would be available the next day. That saves a $1.00 from the manufacturers website + shipping and handling + the shipping wait time. I was satisfied with the customer service area but if everytime I go to this store and have workers breathing over my neck and staring at me, i'll just spend the extra few dollars and order directly from the manufacturer.

Over all the customer service area was a A+ but everything else about the store was degrading and honestly embarassing.

A little advice, just because someone doesn't blend in with the Southern lifestyle, doesn't mean they're going to steal.

It was the backpack. If you check them at the counter then it would not be an issue.

If this happens in other stores it is most likely the same thing going on. It was not how you look or dress.

First, I was considering purchasing a $99 high velocity fan last week. Am employee mentioned to me that the prices were going up the following day so I should buy it that day.

Well, it's a week later and the price DROPPED down to $89! I HATE LIARS!

Second, Rural King sells extremely expired pet food. PLEASE, if you purchase from them check the dates.

I personally pulled about 8 cans of 1 flavor of Science Diet that were expired. I gave them to a manager and he stated that they would put "sale" stickers on them and put them back out!

The expiration date was 1 YEAR AGO! See the photo that I took.

Rk guns slowest delivery around10 days to process order 12 days to deliver 80 miles away

took 10 days to just process order and 12 days to deliver 80 miles away to there own store its like a bunch of monkeys trying to screw a football . no one at costumer service knows anything , finaly got the gun ran serial numbers and it 3 yrs old its new in box but still 3yrs old I paid for a 2016 gun not a 2013 // in 3 yrs they make upgrades AVOID RKGUNS old inventory is fine when your talking nuts and bolts but not firearms , could make difference in life or death these people are opening themselves up for a suit if they don't get people that give a ***

Rural King used to be a service-oriented company, but now they fall way short of any customer service, and they don't care. This includes RKGUNS, and no one can seem to give you a straight answer when you contact them.

I bought one and money returned to my cc. No email to explain, I've sent several emails and no response. I am eligible to have a gun so that's not the reason.

ordered a $800.00 gun, after 9 working days with no shipment notification I cancelled the order and went to a 'Field & Stream' store nearby and made the purchase.....cost me 70.00 more....worth every penny. Something very wrong with their shipping process.

Don't even. After 2 weeks of fighting with them for just a tentative shipping date I finally cancelled my order.

Ordered from Bud's Gun Shop the same day I cancelled from RKGuns. Bud's shipped it THE NEXT DAY!

And it was cheaper! Do yourself a favor and avoid Rural King at all costs.

I've bought many guns from Rkguns and have never had a problem. I've bought both expensive and cheap guns from them and have never had a single problem.

Like many, I hate having to wait for the new toy to arrive, but considering the amount of money saved, I can afford the wait. In all honesty, I've never waited more than two weeks and generally it's, five to seven days depending mostly how fast USPS can get it from their HQ, to their Jasper, IN store.

Customer service in the store has always been fantastic. My biggest complaint is that they offer so many high quality guns at such great prices, that they are hard to resist.

I doubt RKguns website listed the firearm as a 2016 model. If you need a firearm within the week, buy local site-on-seen.

Rural King is a big name store with many departments, I guarantee you would have the same problem if you purchased a gun from Walmart. Stick to FIREARM specific companies if you expect to deal with FIREARM employees. Next time, make a trip and pick it up.

"Life and Death", "Upgrades", now you just sound like a whinier. Sorry your $250 firearm didn't command the attention you thought you deserved, they sell toys worth more buddy.

I purchased an AR-15 for $799.99 and wish I had known a local gun shop had the same one for $10.00 cheaper with no $12.99 shipping fee. The local shop also had the same gun but with flash suppressor and iron sights for the same price $799.99.

RK wouldn't honor the price match because they only price match the more expensive shops. I'm local from now on and can't get ammo from RK either. The gun is two hours from me and I'm still waiting. I recommend Meridian Ordnance better prices and no waiting 7-10 days !

They have Flash sales on products they do not even have from the supplier yet. Ordered a gun on march 9th, still waiting for it.

When you call customer service, no one knows anything. They say they will call you right back, that does not happen, they say they will email you with tracking info. that does not happen. I think they are in over their head.

This is my second purchase, same BS both times.

"the cheap is sometimes the most expensive" Right now they are advertising 2 guns as being in stock, and they have not had any in their whse. since the first week in March, today is April 5th 2016.

I had a HORRIBLE experience today at your store #52. It was simply over popcorn. I received attitude from a cashier named Jessica. I received tolerance and an "I don't care attitude" from the store manager, Barb. I received understanding from the assistant manager, Daniel.

I am the President of the PTO at Painted Stone Elementary located a short 5 miles (if that) away from this store location.

My school's secretary, Donna is a 20-year veteran with the Shelby County Public School System therefore is professional & thorough.

Donna placed the order yesterday (Thursday) for 13 bags with a schedule pick up for today (Friday) at 10 AM. This is the same routine EVERY MONTH. We have never had an issue until today.

I arrived store #52 just before 10 AM to pick up the order. The employees seemed confused that I was there inquiring about the popcorn. I was informed by Jessica that another school (river something??? And Southside Elementary) came to pick up the popcorn). I simply said “No worries. I have to go to Walmart to do some shopping and I will be back”. Jessica told me that it would take about 30 minutes to pop the popcorn & QUICKLY began the task. I went to Walmart.

I returned 1 hour later. I approached Jessica who informed me that the popcorn wasn’t done yet.

Although it was 11 AM, my 1st grader was on a field trip & I had made plans to meet up with her for lunch at noon. The popcorn was due at school by 1:30 PM. If I didn’t leave with the popcorn then, there was no way I could get the popcorn there by 1:30. Jessica had an attitude with me telling me more than once that the popcorn machine can only make so much popcorn at a time. Like “I” was in convincing “her”. I explained that she told that this would take 30 minutes to complete the popcorn and it is an hour later. I explained that I was going on a field trip with my 1st grader. Nothing but attitude from Jessica. Since I was in such a jam and this was “Rural King’s fault”, I asked if they could deliver it to PSE. She told me that THEY CANNOT DO THAT. Really? She didn’t want to.

I called a fellow PSE mom, Carrie. She said that she would get there to pick up the popcorn for me & deliver it to the school therefore I paid for the 13 bags of popcorn. I left to go to the field trip.

I received a call from Carrie at noon telling me that she was at Rural King and there is no popcorn ready. She was told that another school came & took that popcorn. Really? Again? Now I have to stop my field trip plans with my 1st grader to deal with this. My poor daughter was CRYING, BEGGING me not to go. Her teacher was able to remove my daughter off from me and I saved my tears for the drive to Rural King. You will understand why I had to sacrifice my time for daughter later in this explanation. But never-the-less, I felt like a bad mother.

I arrive at Rural King to find no popcorn and no Jessica. I asked for the manager & Daniel, assistant manager, came out. I explained everything to him and he was quick to find a substitute popcorn. He was quick to find a solution. We settled on 20 bags of the Jolly Time White Cheddar Popcorn. He went to ask what discount he could give me. Then Barb entered the conversation. I had to read her name tag because she NEVER introduced herself to me. She seemed annoyed with the situation.

Barb was trying to excuse everything away. Here is what she came up with…

1. Someone called to have popcorn picked up last night (Thursday) & the never showed up. She was gracious enough to let the popcorn sit until morning but then threw it out. I explained to her that we did not place that order.

2. Some schools call in orders and do not tell Rural King the name of their school. I don’t believe that but I cannot speak for other schools, I know Donna is a professional and would tell them her school name. I shot down that excuse.

3. Her staff needs to do a better job on taking down the names of the schools that call in these orders. THAT sounds like the real reason of what happened.

By this time, it is getting closer to 1:00 PM. I needed to get this popcorn to the school. Daniel informed me that Barb decided to make a donation to my school by letting us have the popcorn for free. If I wasn’t in a time constraint, I would have gone to Walmart and bought FULL PRICE bagged popcorn but I couldn’t let my students down.

It’s just popcorn. But it is an incentive for our students. It is an incentive for students for overall great attendance. We have an incentive for attendance because we are a Title 1 school. Over 52% of our student body is on free or reduced lunch. Yes, they are poor. The higher in percentage for free or reduced lunch equates to higher missed school days. We cannot teach these students if they are not in school. Our school population is 562.

It may just be popcorn to Jessica and Barb, but it means the world to our teachers & staff that work tirelessly to get these students to school, keep them in school and to teach them.

I informed Barb that I have 130 students in 5 classes that have earned this popcorn. I told her that I simply cannot go to each of their classes and tell them that I do not have their popcorn. I was desperate. But it’s just popcorn. I explained to Barb how upset my school secretary was & that she will not be placing another order with Rural King. Barb had an attitude that she didn’t care and said that was “our choice”. Because it is just popcorn.

Yes, popcorn is a commodity to be sold. You pop, I pay. But what I bring to my school is not only an incentive but hope. Hope that all my students will earn this popcorn because that will mean that every student came to school every day. Every student is learning therefore winning.

Not only did I feel disrespected by Jessica & Barb, in turn I feel that they disrespected my school and all who are in it.

I run this PTO with passion for my students, my teachers, my staff and my parents. I try my very best to work hard for them and give them all that they deserve. They deserve popcorn because they deserve an incentive. They deserve hope.

I employ that you reevaluate the leadership you have in store #52. Barb doesn’t care that she loses $26 a month. Who would? But I feel that I lost a community partner.

Daniel, assistant manager at store#52 is always very pleasant when I go in there. He always helps other employees and customers.

If I have any questions or need something, I always ask for him.

He is very knowledgable of the products and how things are done there. The store does seem to be understaffed though.

I always found the assistant manager Daniel to be very helpful. I could see the store was cleaner and more organized also after he started to work there.

If I ever have any problems, I will ask to speak to Daniel Robinson. He actually cares about the store and the customers.

Well they have great prices and great selection , i have been going to the one in winchester ky , they are a fairly new store so i sure they have a lot to work on , i think a couple things they need to improve upon is ,, they have to size shopping carts ,, one about the size that CHINA mart has ,, and the larger one are for bulk products ,, but the problem is they dont steer very well and the ilsels are way to small ,, so to say the least they just dont work

the shopping carts are a piece of junk most have bad wheels or broken baskets the company is to cheap to buy new ones so they get the junk ones that other companies got rid of !!!!!

I don't dare use my name cause I will get fired for saying this. The store manager Joy, spies and talks behind the back of her employees. She lets people go smoke but if you don't smoke and are caught not doing something for two or three minutes she gets on you. I know of a employee who was injured at work and when he returned he was wrote up for getting hurt. I know of other employees who were wrote up for talking too much, spending too much time with customers. She does not care about her people that is why she can not keep people working there. She is one of the rudest people I have every known

I'm very pissed!! I spend a lot of money in your store.

2 weekends ago I spent a 1,000.00 !!! Anyway I had a kayake on layaway. Had made the monthly payments every month and went today to pick it up and low and behold they didn't have my item. I went into the store paid the item off and it wasn't there for me to take home.

They told me it had been cancelled because I was late picking it up. I they in turn had to call someone to figure out how to give my money back!! I'm so pissed. I want to know what day they cancelled it because if they were doing their job right it would have said that on the computer when I paid the damned thing off.

They had not called me and had no intention of giving my money back obviously!!! We had a snow storm last weekend and that is why I didn't go get it!! I think this is ridiculous!!! I put it on layaway when it was on sale and now I will have to pay full amount to get another one!!

I don't think I will ever patronize your store again!! I will tell everyone I know what has happened and I also have given you a lot of bios was from the school that I work for but I can go back to tractor supply!! Al least you can get good business there and treated like a human when *** like this happens!! They made it out to be my fault!!

I want to know what day my layaway was cancelled. Because if it wasn't cancelled in your computer at that store then you breeches a contract and I will pursue this!!

Once a layaway is cancelled, it is completely deleted from the system, so there really isn't a way to tell you what day it was cancelled. Also, it says right on the receipt your layaway is good for 90 days.

If you knew you couldn't pay it off on time, maybe you should've called and let them know, I'm sure they would've worked with you. Instead of trying to blame everyone else, it would be nice if people took responsibility.

Was in the Effingham, IL store a few times and let me just say the way the store manager treats her cashiers is mind blowing. In all honesty I would never work for someone like her. Two of which their names are Heather and Tommy when I have been in there witnessing it. I think Rural King really needs to take a look at the bigger picture on how managers treat people. And they wonder why they have to hire all the time.
