Employee of Rural King
As an employee of this "company" I would say there are many incidents which make me wonder why I work for them, but maybe its only because they are close to home. They have slung me around, talked down on me and have been down right rude (managers, and hr manager). When storms are coming, (tornado warning) they stay open and put lives in danger. The lights will go out, and we will continue being open. The holidays like July 4th, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, we STAY open. This "company" would rather waste the money to keep the doors open on days like this when we get no customers, then close the store for one day. For me, I would like to spend this holidays with loved ones. A recent event that has really set me off, its payroll. I expect my paycheck to be here when it is supposed to be. I have bills to pay, and they automatically get withdrawn on the day after I get paid. This isn't a big deal until I don't have enough money in my account to cover the fees. This Rural King is UNSATISFACTORY.

Bad service | Rural King review from Litchfield, Illinois
over the last week I have tried ordering a lawn mower belt from your Litchfield il.store I have called at least 20 times in which I have been put on hold approxamatly 15 of those calls for over 15 minutes at a time .I have hung up and called back and again been put on hold for a very long time the couple times I have got through I have been greeted by a man that I cannot understand and who has no idea how to take down a part number that I already have for the parts department to order for my mower I asked if I can talk to someone else and he says yes and proceedes to put me on hold again where I remain on the line for an excessive amount of time with no response from anyone in your store I am very upset because I visit rural king a few times a week but with this service I have been forced to order my belt from another parts store thank u

Rural King Manager Review
On June 30 I was in the Carbondale Illinois location. I saw that two bunnies were in severe distress. They had severe abdominal bloating, mucous nasal and rectal discharge, and could not stand. An employee passed and asked if I needed help. I told him that two bunnies were sick. His response "oh yeah" and he didn't break a stride, and kept walking. Imagine my horror when I learned this rude employee was MIKE the MANAGER. Wow. Bad example to teach the young store employees. I talked to an employee that told me Mike did not care about the animals or anything else for that matter except the almighty dollar. I left and returned to the store and purchased the two bunnies. during treatment the sickest bunny died screaming in agonizing abdominal pain WITHIN 2 HOURS of purchase. In case Rural King is unaware, there are animal welfare laws for animals including those for agricultural purposes. I have had multiple problems regarding Rural King and their inhumane treatment of animals. This time however I decided to file a formal complaint with the Illinois Department of Agriculture. I am and have been a licensed veterinarian for 21 years. The shelters are overrun with rabbits. Rural King has no business selling live animals in this day and age only to suffer a cruel fate. Shame on you Rural King! And SHAME on MIKE the CARBONDALE ILLINOIS rural king manager. Disgusting!

Just returned from a wasted trip! I called ahead to check if the product I needed was available. After being put on hold and hung up on twice, by the same woman, on my third call I was told by her that they did have the product I wanted. I asked the price, where is was located and specifics I desired, which she shot off readily with answers to. So, I drove there... I witnessed about six employees standing around talking to each other not caring about greeting or asking if I needed help. When I asked for help getting the product (which I knew was quite heavy) no one knew what I was talking about (never heard of the product), each blamed another for taking the phone call. The manager, "James" did not care to help find the product and the one helpful employee who walked the bulk of store trying to help me had no luck finding it. The manager still did not care to help his employee or to check his inventory system when I asked him to. He stated that it was "not usually right anyway" telling "Adam" he just needed to "look closer to find it" and "it may be sold out". The one helpful employee "Adam" should move on to a better job where his belief in good customer service aligns well with the vision/mission of the company he is with-"James" the manager should learn how to treat customers before he should BE a manager. Shame on you Royal King for poor management and poorly trained employees!
