Losing great managers. What has happened in the last 5-8 years at Rural King?

The store managers/ assistant managers don't know farm store products, ag chemicals, or hardware department? In the 1980-2010, our family business (10,000 acres) only spent our family farm business dollars in their central IL and IN stores . I have shopping at the Champaign, Mattoon, Paris, Terre Haute, and Vincennes RK stores for decades.... Sadly we dropped our charge account with them 2012, have dealing with clueless store managers, my son, Andrew, told us Walmart staff starting taking over the home office and store managers positions....

He is 30, and graduated from U of I, and said, " The son was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and wouldn't be qualified if his family didn't own the company ".

We haven't shopped there in 12 months..... Guess what Big R, TSC, and other local farm stores have enjoyed our farm dollars!!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

I agree with your review 100 % you did the right thing by dropping your accounts and taking your business somewhere else !!!! also I want to add that a lot of the buildings they buy or rent are in dilapidated condition the ones I been to have leaky roofs , poor heating , electric problems , poor restrooms the list goes on and on

oh yea the ceo a Melvin is a cheap *** he keeps opening up new stores in these dilapidated , condemnable buildings and they cant even take care of the one's they have

@rk employee

I currently ',exist' at rk 20hrs/,wk to permit my FULL investment in their private stock, but they refuse to promote me! They told me I could be their CEO for a year (to train this ',son' in A, B, C, provided i gave the job back), and went on to an MBA somewhere, but I refused because I told them I didn't want to be blamed when this son had NO idea what to do for D, E, F. This all occurred AFTER I got my UIUC Business BS, right AFTER suffering a severe TBI, after graduating near the top of my MHS class?

I might be able to answer your question about what has happened in the last 5-8 years at rural king , the first thing is the expansion of stores and the lack of qualified store & assistant managers, they have in fact have hired a lot of the reject management from Wal-Mart and other companies that could not do their job previously and don't know anything about farm & ag related products & methods so they went to rural king and got a job and most are still failures , your son Andrew is 100% correct a lot of Walmart and other companies reject management has been taking over the corporate office and store manager jobs

also he is correct about this " the son was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and wouldn't be qualified if his family didn't own the company "
